After many years in England and then Germany, Jamie O'Brien moved to the US in 1989.
His first American musical endeavors were with the Pennsylvania-based old timey band, Medicinal Purpose.
By the mid-90s, he had returned to his London-Irish roots, forming the Laune Rangers (the Launies),
which gained success throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.
He moved to Arizona in 2006 and tours the US, including Hawaii, and Europe regularly.
Performing solo and with accompaniment, he has won the hearts of many
with his eclectic approach to music (celtic, rock, Americana, Hawaiian, reggae).
He has released three solo albums, each featuring some of his many musical friends and colleagues,
ranging from Billy McComiskey, Donna Long, Aoife Clancy among others from the world of Irish music and
contemporary performers such as Dede Wyland, Henry Koretzky and Paul McKeown. My Wild Irish Boy (2004) and Many's The
Mile, Love... (2007) are celtic, while Chasing Ghosts (2011) presents another side of Jamie: the singer and songwriter
of contemporary music.
He continues to perform solo, with accompaniment, as an accompanist or with the bands, the Launies
and Cobblestone. He sings and plays guitar (in standard and taro patch tunings) and ukulele; his styles range from celtic to
Americana to Hawaiiana, traditional and contemporary including his own compositions.
Jamie would love to play for you and is available for both public and private performances, solo, with accompaniment and with his
bands: festivals, concerts, luaus, clubs, weddings, house concerts, dinner concerts and more.
